Lignin, a naturally abundant biopolymer, has emerged as a promising sustainable material for various applications. This study leverages nanotechnology to to enhance the functional properties of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/glycerol films for sustainable food packaging. Lignin and chitosan nanoparticles were successfully incorporated into the films, as confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis. Nanolignin conferred remarkable UV-blocking and antioxidant properties to the films in a concentration-dependent manner, with optimal performance achieved at 5% lignin nanoparticle concentrations. Overall, the integration of glycerol, nanochitosan, and nanolignin into PVA films provided multifunctional and potentially biodegradable nanocomposites for possible applications in sustainable and active food packaging.

Abstract
Overall, the integration of glycerol, nanochitosan, and nanolignin into PVA films provided multifunctional and potentially biodegradable nanocomposites for possible applications in sustainable and active food packaging.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
