The thesis has three purposes. The first purpose is to examine the hypothesis that the establishment of the In Trust agreements between FAO and the CGIAR Centres had an impact on the availability and exchange of the plant genetic resources hold in the CGIAR centres. The agreements signed in the 1994 formalized the legal status of ex situ germplasm held by the CGIAR genebanks. Second, to develop a theoretical framework through which it is possible to derive the demand for genetic resources explaining in which way the demand’s factors affect that. Third objective is to provide and show empirically econometric frameworks to conduct formal investigations on factors affecting germplasm demand.

Abstract
The thesis has three purposes. The first purpose is to examine the hypothesis that the establishment of the In Trust agreements between FAO and the CGIAR Centres had an impact on the availability and exchange of the plant genetic resources hold in the CGIAR centres. The agreements signed in the 1994 formalized the legal status of ex situ germplasm held by the CGIAR genebanks. Second, to develop a theoretical framework through which it is possible to derive the demand for genetic resources explaining in which way the demand’s factors affect that. Third objective is to provide and show empirically econometric frameworks to conduct formal investigations on factors affecting germplasm demand.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
