The invention consists of a new generation of self-assembling nanoparticles (NPs) able to deliver drugs into tumors. The efficacy of these NP has been demonstrated with zoledronic acid (ZOL), a powerful bisphosphonate today largely used in clinical practice to avoid bone resorption in different diseases (osteoporosis, Paget's disease and bone metastases). ZOL is very efficient in vitro to reduce cell growth on different cancer cells. However, any anticancer effect has been observed in vivo following administration of free ZOL, due to its accumulation into the bone (low ZOL levels in solid tumors).

Abstract
The invention consists of a new generation of self-assembling nanoparticles (NPs) able to deliver drugs into tumors. The efficacy of these NP has been demonstrated with zoledronic acid (ZOL), a powerful bisphosphonate today largely used in clinical practice to avoid bone resorption in different diseases (osteoporosis, Paget's disease and bone metastases). ZOL is very efficient in vitro to reduce cell growth on different cancer cells. However, any anticancer effect has been observed in vivo following administration of free ZOL, due to its accumulation into the bone (low ZOL levels in solid tumors).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
