According to the definition of urban resilience as the ability “to tolerate alteration before reorganizing around a new set of structures and processes" and “ to adjust in the face of uncertainty and surprise (...) to capitalize on positive opportunities the future may bring" (Resilience Alliance, 2007), the paper presents the first outcomes of the study concerning the way of analysing resilience in historical cities, focusing on the interactions between urban form and the management of city’s metabolic flows (people, energy, waste).
