Abstract
The Modernity of Tel Aviv is built on continuous merge between different cultures and social necessity. The phenomenon can be presented by exploring entire modern structure of the city and by focusing on personal stories of local architects. Additionally, this approach gives a close look at different shades of Modernity and helps to identify its roots and origins. Having a natural intent of the state to build a new society through a modern aesthetics, local architects brought their personal architectural insight to the image of the city. Whether they had studied in Bauhaus or worked with Erich Mendelsohn, each architect has formed his or her own way of professional expression at new land and new culture. For this reason the Modern Architecture of Tel Aviv has never been attached to world’s noble influence in its dogmatic way, and thus allowed to avoid the modernist monumentality, which is profoundly present at other modern cities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
