Abstract

While access to urban spaces becomes more and more difficult each year, the real estate vacancy strikes all European cities. In order to reflect on this observation, the Bouwmeester Maitre Architecte of Brussels (BMA) & local non-profit Communa organise two days of conferences, visits and workshops on social temporary use and antispeculative land acquisition mechanisms. Field professionals and public actors from several European countries will come together in order to understand deeply these challenges as well as challenge them. The question ‘How can we turn our cities into affordable, democratic, resilient and creative spaces?’ will be at the center of our conversations.
