Over the years, countless historic-architectural transformations have taken place within the Campania region, profoundly changing the landscape. In order to rediscover and enhance some aspects that have been lost, the present work aims to carry out a planimetric mapping of Neapolitan domes covered with majolica tiles, typical decorative elements of Campanian culture. The research involves an in-depth study of the city through panoramic photographs, taken from strategic viewpoints in parallel with planimetric maps, in order to identify the domes that in their current state still have the tiles, strongly characterizing the landscape. Such domes will be catalogued according to the different distributional types, highlighting their dual role, meaning their decorative and technological function. A second phase of the research, based on the study and analysis of iconographic sources, is to identify those domes whose majolica covering has been lost over time. The aim is to identify the transformations that the landscape has undergone in order to virtually reconstruct its image. In particular, an emblematic case study will be identified and the ideal model will be constructed by placing the majolica tiles using an appropriately defined parametric model. Such an ideal model will allow virtual simulation within the landscape context and in general to analyze geometric problems related to the placement of flat elements (the tiles) on a curved surface (the dome).
