The work focus on some dynamical aspects of surface piercing propellers (SPP), as deduces from experimental testing carried out on a model and specifically on pulsating loads acting on the shaft line and bearings. In the first part the dynamometer, used to perform propellers open water tests, has been characterized identifying the transfer function associated with an impulse type force properly designed and positioned. Collected data are processed and analyzed in light of the constructed transfer function.
