Recent studies have confirmed that literature equations for the estimation of the reaeration rate are not applicable to all stream hydrodynamic conditions. Since recent efforts have been addressed to develop a comprehensive approach to gas-transfer using dimensional analysis to clearly identify the parameters involved in the process, the present paper provides a first equation for smooth channels based on this ap-proach using 74 laboratory data.
