A zinc-protein was purified from rat prostate. This protein was shown to be able in binding epidydimal spermatozoa. The strength of the bonds between the sperm-coating antigen and the plasmamebrane of the male gamete was analyzed, and found very high. A role for this protein as zinc exchager with sperm surface groups was proposed.
