Abstract: this contribution is aimed to communicate hints of a possible meaning of experimentation. This will be write through a very fast excursus among laws, degree and measures, and the tale of a project realized in Italy. Starting from the law 457/78 there are indications about experimental buildings. And starting from this law it is possible to underline different rules for different categories of building (school, hospital, public buildings ) able to direct public building in Italy. On experimental theme, one of last institutional products is the D.M. L.L.P.P. October 1997, become operative in January 1998. Here it is possible to find the ‘Experimental programs guide’ and the meaning of a special urban program called ‘Contratto di quartiere’. Nowadays this is the only one instrument able to support realization of public experimental building in Italy.
