This paper uses Hyperpolitics methodology (Calise and Lowi 2000) to analyse the core defining dimentions of the term Populism. Populism is a possible expression of democracy that can be developed only when its procedural dimension is privileged. This is true in the case of electronic democracy which exclusively focus on “who” and “how” (not “what”) is democratic. Electronic democracy therefore runs the same risk of hyperdemocracy to fall into electronic populism.

Abstract
This paper uses Hyperpolitics methodology (Calise and Lowi 2000) to analyse the core defining dimentions of the term Populism. Populism is a possible expression of democracy that can be developed only when its procedural dimension is privileged. This is true in the case of electronic democracy which exclusively focus on “who” and “how” (not “what”) is democratic. Electronic democracy therefore runs the same risk of hyperdemocracy to fall into electronic populism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
