The paper contains a wide report (based on more than 70 reviewed items) of technical, philosophical and applications questions concerning multiple-valued and fuzzy logics, and, more in general, concerning the debate about the relevance and the reliability of the formal counterparts of "commonsense" notions like vagueness, imprecision and uncertainty.
