E-Government activities have the aim to optimize the work of the governmental offices and offer, to citizens and businesses, effective, accessible and efficient services. Dematerialization, which is among the main activities of e-Government, is devoted to optimize information communication, in terms of consumed time and resources, as well as processing documents. In this work we propose a new model for multimedia document, suitable for e-Government activities, and an information system able to integrate and process different multimedia data type (as images, text, graphic objects, audio, video, composite multimedia, etc.) providing facilities for indexing, storage, retrieval, control of ultimedia data, together with long term preservation strategies.

Abstract
E-Government activities have the aim to optimize the work of the governmental offices and offer, to citizens and businesses, effective, accessible and efficient services. Dematerialization, which is among the main activities of e-Government, is devoted to optimize information communication, in terms of consumed time and resources, as well as processing documents. In this work we propose a new model for multimedia document, suitable for e-Government activities, and an information system able to integrate and process different multimedia data type (as images, text, graphic objects, audio, video, composite multimedia, etc.) providing facilities for indexing, storage, retrieval, control of ultimedia data, together with long term preservation strategies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
