Abstract
Not infrequently, enterprise integration projects fail. The lessons learned from these failures can help managers avoid common and even not-so-common pitfalls. More important to the practitioner, however, is the ability to predict and manage risks associated with these failures. In this paper, we present the results from the first of a series of planned case studies for the validation of a framework assessing and managing risks in ERP implementation projects. The framework tries to homogenize discrepancies and to resolve overlapping stages and activities identified in related literature. The suggested methodology, instead, aims to develop a suitable and useful model for ERP risk management, suggesting innovative methodologies and techniques for the different phases of risk management process or adapting the existing ones to the new ERP context.
