Oral Transmucosal fentanyl citrate (OTFC) is succesfully used for the treatment of breakthrough pain in opioid-tolerant patients suffering from cancer pain. Several literature data suggest the possibility of using OTFC in patients suffering from non-cancer pain. The purpose of this cohort study was to characterize the safety of OTFC in non opioid-tolerant patients.
