For many years asbestos has played a key role in the Italian economy. Our country was in fact ranked the sixth biggest producer in the world of chrysotile fibers. However, due to its dangerous nature for both people and for the environment, within few years, the massive productions of thousand of tons of this carcinogenic mineral was banned. The most drastic remedy for eliminating the risks of exposure, involves the removal of its artifacts; however such operation requires a lot of time along with substantial financial resources. However, utilizing the most appropriate intervention strategies, it is possible to eliminate asbestos, by containing the levels of pollution and by respecting and protecting the environment and the people in charge of reclamation of the land.
