Abstract
The inner sustainability of ancient towns and villages is impacted by modern construction in historic asset even in cases where historical building and spaces are rehabilitated or maintained and where the misunderstanding of primary building processes could upset the local ecological balance and site identity. When historic urban space is subjected to modernisation for updating urban services - such as allowing accessibility by car, improving infrastructure, developing commerce, etc. - have to be compared to the original state of the site and must be sensitive to local, specific carrying capacity. According to these remarks, the purpose of the study is to assess the relationship between the built and natural environment. The main aim of the study is to improve decision making by an innovative design approach in which the environmental performances of historic urban space come into play, ensuring that orienting proposals contribute to a successful rehabilitation and/ or maintenanceI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
