Remote sensing application of Galileo upcoming constellation in the field of civil security is preliminarily analyzed, defining low resolution (15m) and high resolution (5m) working modes for a bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar system utilizing Galileo satellites as transmitters and Unmanned Aerial Systems as receivers. Simulations off Somalia coast showed that both acquisitions are feasible, although with some short time-interruptions in the case of high resolutions, provided that UAS motion is coordinated with Galileo passages. Coordination is less stringent in the case of low resolution image acquisition.

Abstract
Remote sensing application of Galileo upcoming constellation in the field of civil security is preliminarily analyzed, defining low resolution (15m) and high resolution (5m) working modes for a bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar system utilizing Galileo satellites as transmitters and Unmanned Aerial Systems as receivers. Simulations off Somalia coast showed that both acquisitions are feasible, although with some short time-interruptions in the case of high resolutions, provided that UAS motion is coordinated with Galileo passages. Coordination is less stringent in the case of low resolution image acquisition.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
