The interaction between flow and vegetation is a complex topic. Effects of vegetation on turbulent characteristics can be stressed through experimental measurements. In this paper the effects of a submerged rigid cylindrical vegetation on dimensionless velocity, turbulence intensity, skewness and kurtosis are experimentally studied. The main result is that vegetation density mostly affect the distributions of the aforementioned statistical quantities, whereas the flow depth referred to the vegetation height practically does not.

Abstract
The interaction between flow and vegetation is a complex topic. Effects of vegetation on turbulent characteristics can be stressed through experimental measurements. In this paper the effects of a submerged rigid cylindrical vegetation on dimensionless velocity, turbulence intensity, skewness and kurtosis are experimentally studied. The main result is that vegetation density mostly affect the distributions of the aforementioned statistical quantities, whereas the flow depth referred to the vegetation height practically does not.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
