In an era where more and more often artists try to produce exasperated virtual images able to allude to a three-dimensionality that does not exist, Felice Varini (1952 Locarno, Switzerland), operating in three-dimensional real environments, performs a radical transformation of the perspective method, working with two-dimensional geometric shapes transcribed in fragments on a piece of landscape, obviously three-dimensional, in order to represent the images produced by his artistic genius as if he worked in the two-dimensionality of a simple drawing paper, but prospectively deforming his signs along the surfaces of a plastic real space. The study demonstrates how Felice Varini uses anamorphosis (a geometrical technique widely used in the baroque period to create visual illusion) to scan the landscape and to generate a new and improved perceptual relationship between people and environment.
