This paper explores from a theoretical perspective the possibility that gender binarism may work as an apparatus of resistance to inclusion in organization. We connect the concept of gender binarism to those of organizational identity, resistance, and inclusion. In order to do this, by focusing on the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community, we specifically concentrate on transgender and gender non-conforming people (TGNC). These are considered the "cutting edge of the bleeding edge of the LGBT community" (Davis, 2009). We focus on TGNC individuals with the aim to investigate the topic from a liminal position, in order to enlighten some aspects about resistance to inclusion, which were not manifest if considered only through the observation of the phenomenon per se.

Abstract
This paper explores from a theoretical perspective the possibility that gender binarism may work as an apparatus of resistance to inclusion in organization. We connect the concept of gender binarism to those of organizational identity, resistance, and inclusion. In order to do this, by focusing on the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community, we specifically concentrate on transgender and gender non-conforming people (TGNC). These are considered the "cutting edge of the bleeding edge of the LGBT community" (Davis, 2009). We focus on TGNC individuals with the aim to investigate the topic from a liminal position, in order to enlighten some aspects about resistance to inclusion, which were not manifest if considered only through the observation of the phenomenon per se.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
