The field of concrete technology has focused its research on the formulation of innovative concretes that meet the durability requirements of the materials and of building components. The result of the Japanese technological research has led to the creation of a particular type of concrete defined as self compacting concrete that are able to improve the process of industrialization of the industries. It is a concrete based on particular rheological, physical, and elasto-mechanical characteristics, with high stability and reduced tendency to segregation even in the presence of operations of setup that are performed incorrectly. The new concrete, filling completely the formworks and eliminating macro-voids and excess air regardless of the effectiveness with which it is compacted, leads to the elimination of microflow and macro bubbles which are responsible for the decrease of the mechanical performance and the degree of durability of the structure. This paper reports the results of an experiment conducted by Phd Salvatore Simonetti and Emanuele La Mantia with the guide of professor Renato Iovino and Flavia Fascia. In particular, we will give the results of the rheological and mechanical properties of the SSC which is the object of the experimentation.
