El «milagro fabril del escarpelo»: funciones del artificio escultórico en la Fábula de Faetón

RESUMEN A partir de los detalles escultóricos (entalladuras, grabados, cromatismo y materiales) que conforman la “fábrica” del Palacio del Sol en la conocida Fábula de Faetón, el ensayo propone una relectura de la misma en clave satírico-moral, al tiempo que señala las funciones, tanto retóricas como simbólicas, adquiridas por la extensa ékphrasis dentro del sistema compositivo del Villamediana burilador. ABSTRACT Moving from the sculptural details (carvings, engravings, chromaticism and the materials) that shape the "factory" of the Palace of the Sun in the well-known Fábula de Faetón, the essay proposes a re-reading of the text in a satirical-moral code. At the same time, the article aims to settle the functions, both rhetorical and symbolic, acquired by the extensive ékphrasis within the compositional system of the chiseller Villamediana.
