Abstract
Architectural and urban survey,as well as archaeological and territorial one,had undergone marked changes aver the two last decades with regards to acquisition and method of representing data. This is mainly linked to two factors: on one hand the technological progress and the growing interest ofthe scientific community for digitai data acquisition techniques (the fast spread of instruments based on active sensors, such as laser scanners, and an passive ones, such as photo video cameras, has made the three-dimensional survey more accessible, reliable and quicker, only when it is conducted according to scientific protocols and accurate projects), an the other hand the environmental issues, protection ofterritories and human settlements have forced the need to detect protection actions aimed to document the Mediterranean landscape and to enhance its resources, and to launch targeted protection and. The recent seismic events in central ltaly and on the island of Ischia confirm this need, especially in relation with the great heritage of material culture and traditions represented by the smaller villages in ltaly and, specifically,in central-southern areas. The legislation has recently moved in this direction, with measures that involve about 70% of ltalian municipalities and aver 50% ofthe national territory. The historical centres and especially the smaller ones are the result of a generative process characterized by signs and memory, in a continuous dialogue with nature. This condition is mainly found in the Mediterranea n basin where the l oca l cultures and the natural constraints have intluenced and continue to influence the spatial and economie organization of the settlements. lt is nota coincidence that the MIBACT has proclaimed the 2017 ''National Year of the Villages”. lt is therefore necessary to activate diversified analysis strategies, related to the peculiarities ofthe places, in which the acquisition of metric information, concerning to the configuratian and consistency of the built, and aIso chromatic, pertaining to the stratified historical fabrics, becomes a fundamental part of the cognitive process which, from a wide interdisciplinary perspective and with a cultura! approach based on the survey, contributes to a better definition of cultura! and social choices aimed to guarantee the survival of many smaller centres.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
