It is certainly no coincidence that contemporary architecture, today, is increasingly favoring more "special" concretes. In particular, many architectural works that choose concrete to face or sculptural plastic forms use self-compacting concrete. The “fluidity” of this concrete offers simple answers, necessary to take a step towards the industrialization of the building site and to give a new degree of freedom to architecture, triggerind a change. In the history of concrete, the use and diffusion of self-compacting require an eminently technical knowledge and the analysis of the most emblematic constructions realized. This methodological approach is fundamental for the scientific knowledge of this technology, which is old for the Japanese, and which has yet to grow in the European reality.

Abstract
It is certainly no coincidence that contemporary architecture, today, is increasingly favoring more "special" concretes. In particular, many architectural works that choose concrete to face or sculptural plastic forms use self-compacting concrete. The “fluidity” of this concrete offers simple answers, necessary to take a step towards the industrialization of the building site and to give a new degree of freedom to architecture, triggerind a change. In the history of concrete, the use and diffusion of self-compacting require an eminently technical knowledge and the analysis of the most emblematic constructions realized. This methodological approach is fundamental for the scientific knowledge of this technology, which is old for the Japanese, and which has yet to grow in the European reality.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
