Relationships and exchanges among some regions of Northern and Southern Europe were particularly intense in the first half of the first millennium BC and favoured the existence of a vast network of links among elites. Long distance trade and regional trade, which themselves changed through time but were always based on the exchange both of raw materials and luxury objects, played different roles in the Late Bronze Age and in the Early Iron Age.
