The essay analyzes the figure of the Camorrista at the theatre, focusing on the Goffredo Cognetti’s work A basso porto. This work was written in Turin, starting from June 1887 and staged in the same city at the Teatro Gerbino. As evidenced by the informations, that Cognetti gives to the text, the idea of the work originated in 1887, when the writer was in Naples. In A basso porto the dramatist wants to give, on the one hand, a voice to the characters of the Neapolitan people; on the other hand, however, the analysis of Camorra requires a reflection – on a bibliographical basis – concerning the uses and codes of organized crime.
