In this text it is the figure of self-knowledge that is analyzed. Far from containing a knowledge to transmit, the Dialogues aim at teaching how to get to it, moving from the soul’s education. The examination of the tradition, the assessment of the logical coherence of the beliefs that it bequeaths, the reference to the personal situation of Socrates’ interlocutor (and Plato’s reader) help to shape the form of the self. It is a personal exercise, which aims at determinating those immaterial hallways of the mind which we are supposed to walk for the rest of our lives.

Abstract
