Abstract
The Mostra d'Oltremare and the Costanzo Ciano complex are ordered along the direction of Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo, a 40 meter section road running between what was supposed to be the western head of the Mostra and the gate of the Ciano complex, a required for decades by the military, only recently returned to the city but not yet to the free use of citizens. Around the axis, buildings of metropolitan equipment accumulate without rules. The curtains are heterogeneous when not absent: along the whole avenue development areas are still waiting for a definition. Some contingencies - such as the establishment of the Città Metropolitana of Naples, which sanctions the definitive acquisition of the interdependence relationship between the historic city and its territory; the dismantling of the Ex College Costanzo Ciano by NATO; the decay of public utility constraints of private areas adjacent to the Avenue, henanced to select the Viale Giochi del Mediterraneo as a center of gravitation on the issue of new urban centralities using the inversion of the views as a reading key, migrating, welcoming, interculture as a status quo and, at the same time, a demand to give an answer. The study areas proposed for the experimentations of the architecture schools on the theme of the Villard17 seminar are settle along this avenue and questioned the specific but persuasive geographic features: the avenue is the hinge of the city with the sea and with the territory of the Campi Flegrei; infrastructural potential: the area is the hub for interchanging iron infrastructure that penetrates the city from the West; the value of meaning and significance in the present and future collective imagination: the whole area is the wreck of a project of urban centre, the result of a system of values that aspired to celebrate the political and economic expansion of Italy Fascist on the seas and so-called overseas lands. Can architecture now re-organize that wreck and, by establishing new relationships, be representative of a multicultural metropolitan area?I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
