The present paper concerns the comparison, by numerical study and optimization, of a solution aimed at realizing a rational and sustainable use of hydrogen according to the Power to Gas and Carbon capture and utilization approaches. A technical-economic analysis of a possible plant configuration to use the carbon dioxide captured from a cogeneration engine by coupling a photovoltaic field to produce green hydrogen, is carried out. The case study explores the production of synthetic methane by adding green hydrogen produced with the energy surplus, so to highlight the effect of main governing parameters. The main results of this study highlight how the technological solution is not viable, both for the required large size of the photovoltaic field and for negative economic indexes.

Abstract
The present paper concerns the comparison, by numerical study and optimization, of a solution aimed at realizing a rational and sustainable use of hydrogen according to the Power to Gas and Carbon capture and utilization approaches. A technical-economic analysis of a possible plant configuration to use the carbon dioxide captured from a cogeneration engine by coupling a photovoltaic field to produce green hydrogen, is carried out. The case study explores the production of synthetic methane by adding green hydrogen produced with the energy surplus, so to highlight the effect of main governing parameters. The main results of this study highlight how the technological solution is not viable, both for the required large size of the photovoltaic field and for negative economic indexes.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
