The main goal of our work is to present the way in which immigrant children in the critical age with different L1s, Ukrainian and Romanian, learn prepositions in the Italian language, taking into account other influential factors besides age, such as quantity and quality of input, socio-biographical context and learners’ personality. Studies about the acquisition of prepositions in Italian L2 by children are completely lacking. A comparison will also be presented between the results obtained from the corpus under analysis and a corpus of adult learners, demonstrating the influence of the above-mentioned factors and any difference between children (critical age) and adults (post-critical age).
