Abstract

The common goal of preserving the existing historical heritage makes it necessary to have knowledge of artefacts not only from a formal point of view, but also in terms of information management. The digitisation of processes therefore tends towards the BIM approach that enables a data collection environment through parametric modelling. Historical heritage, given the heterogeneity of its elements, aligns poorly with the standardisation of forms, so there is currently a move towards the identification of modelling flows capable of automati cally encoding complex entities. The opportunity to test new solutions has arisen from a rese arch collaboration between the Universities of Naples and Florence on the Opera di Santa Croce, focusing on the colonnade of the Great Cloister, for which the parametric-algorith mic approach is proposed, which is increasingly in use as a suitable tool for the manipulation
