Un abitato dell’età del Bronzo a Villa Verucchio (Verucchio, RN)

From 2009 to 2016 a field survey in the Valmarecchia has been carried out by the Institut für Archäologien of the Innsbruck University (LFUI). A prehistoric site has been discovered at Villa Verucchio in via Mondaini and in 2010 it was excavated by the Soprintendenza Archeologica per l’Emilia-Romagna. The excavation yielded an impressive amount of finds and this preliminary report is reserved to some of the most relevant artifacts. The results of this research allow to suggest a preliminary chronology to the late Middle and mainly to the Recent Bronze Age. During the Recent Bronze Age the site was probably abandoned. The abandonment of the settlement of via Mondaini can be connected to the earliest occupation of the site on the top of the hill of the modern-day Verucchio, datable to the Final Bronze Age.
