The aim of this paper is to establish the importance of the dialectic of the Sophist not only for the creation of the Neoplatonist metaphysical system, but also for the isagogical system. I think that if there is an essential relationship between dialectical methods and metaphysical movements, then it is possible to assume that there is also a relationship between the division of the parts of the dialogue, as a procession, and the definition of skopos as an epistrophic moment. To demonstrate this, I will discuss the place that the Sophist probably occupied in the reading order of Plato's dialogues according to Iamblichus and how the relationship between dialectical methods applied to isagogics and metaphysical movements can benefit from the solution Proclus proposes in order to resolve the apparent contradiction between the descriptions of the two dialectical moments in the Phaedrus (265d3-266c1) and the four in the Sophist (253d5-e2).

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to establish the importance of the dialectic of the Sophist not only for the creation of the Neoplatonist metaphysical system, but also for the isagogical system. I think that if there is an essential relationship between dialectical methods and metaphysical movements, then it is possible to assume that there is also a relationship between the division of the parts of the dialogue, as a procession, and the definition of skopos as an epistrophic moment. To demonstrate this, I will discuss the place that the Sophist probably occupied in the reading order of Plato's dialogues according to Iamblichus and how the relationship between dialectical methods applied to isagogics and metaphysical movements can benefit from the solution Proclus proposes in order to resolve the apparent contradiction between the descriptions of the two dialectical moments in the Phaedrus (265d3-266c1) and the four in the Sophist (253d5-e2).| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
