Born and Rytov approximations are widely employed to simplify the scattering problem. However, to obtain better accuracies, second order approximations can be employed. Here, a 2D scenario is considered, modelled by a second order Rytov approximation. An analytical/numerical assessment is presented, to evaluate the improved performance of the second order Rytov approximation.

Abstract
