This chapter demonstrates how community-based tourism (CBT) can drive sustainable tourism development. Using a case study approach, the investigation provides detailed insights into how active local participation in tourism can promote economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The study focuses on Vico Equense, a town in Southern Italy. The findings reveal that CBT in Vico Equense has substantially contributed to the local economy while fostering cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. This case exemplifies how community-led initiatives can seamlessly integrate into broader sustainable tourism strategies, offering valuable lessons for other regions seeking to balance tourism growth with community welfare and resource conservation. The study highlights the critical role of community involvement in shaping tourism practices that are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, and culturally respectful.
