This work proposes a new relative chronology for the Novilara necropolis, a typical site of the pre-Roman Picene cultural group, located in the northern part of the Marche region (Middle Adriatic Italy), near Pesaro. A new study – together with new available data on seriations of cemeteries of the Middle Adriatic area, such as those of Fermo and Verucchio – allows us to reconsider the chronological framework proposed by K. W. Beinhauer in 1985 (founded on the intersection of demographic and typological data). Our work is based on chronotypological analysis through the realization of a new analytical classification of the artefacts and of a seriation table which includes both cemeteries of Novilara: Molaroni and Servici. The seriation table generated two association systems which can be interpreted as two distinct phases: Novilara I and Novilara II. In terms of absolute chronology, the earliest phase, Novilara I, can be assigned roughly to the period from 725 to 675 BC, while Novilara II runs approximately from 675 to 625 BC.

Abstract
In terms of absolute chronology, the earliest phase, Novilara I, can be assigned roughly to the period from 725 to 675 BC, while Novilara II runs approximately from 675 to 625 BC.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
