Giuseppe Del Rosso, architetto e storiografo. Per una ricostruzione del profilo intellettuale a partire dalla corrispondenza con Giovanni Battista Vermiglioli

Royal Consultor for the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and Master of Architecture at the Florentine Accademia del Disegno, Giuseppe Del Rosso was also a productive art writer. His engagement in the study of the local history of ancient art and architecture and his ability to discuss the theoretical problems displayed in the international arena are widely demonstrated by the many letters that he sent to the scholar and archaeologist Giovanni Battista Vermiglioli in Perugia. These unpublished epistolary documents allow to reconstruct the architect’s bibliography, to add to his biography a more articulated description of his cultural identity, and to help enhancing his role as a scholar in the history of modern national historiography.
