Roadwork sites increase accident rates and the severity of those accidents. Reducing this problem requires an integrated and systematic approach aimed at identifying and solving the safety problems of the work zone. An effective approach, which is quickly spreading at the international level, is the work-zone safety audit in both urban and rural areas. The paper presents a road safety audit procedure specifically suited for workzones.
