Protection and stabilization of some unstable olefins has been effectively achieved by coordination in live-coordinate [PtClMe(2,9-Me-2-1,10-phenanthroline)(olefin)] complexes. These have been characterized by H-1-NMR spectroscopy and iu the case of [PtClMe(2,9-Me-2-1,10-phenanthroline)(Z-EtCH=CHOH)] by X-ray diffractometry.
