The target of any energy management strategy is to prioritize real-time power requests from the loads and allocate power resources available from the generation and storage devices in an optimized manner in order to minimize fuel consumption and/or emissions. The paper deals with the application of the optimal control theory for the reduction of the fuel consumption in a conventional vehicle. The results show a reduction of 2% in fuel use. The strategy can be applied also for hybrid vehicles and also for minimizing both fuel consumption and emissions.

Abstract
The target of any energy management strategy is to prioritize real-time power requests from the loads and allocate power resources available from the generation and storage devices in an optimized manner in order to minimize fuel consumption and/or emissions. The paper deals with the application of the optimal control theory for the reduction of the fuel consumption in a conventional vehicle. The results show a reduction of 2% in fuel use. The strategy can be applied also for hybrid vehicles and also for minimizing both fuel consumption and emissions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
