The identifyng of the areas mainly oriented to innovation in the South of Italy

This work belongs to a wider research route that, starting from the study on the interrelation phenomena between technological innovation and territory (Beguinot and Cardarelli, 1992), is targeted to work out a procedure for determining the propension degree to innovation of a territorial system. The set up of this procedure can be a tool for directing and managing the evolution dynamics of a territorial system where an innovative process is going to take place. The research work has been directed to a threefold goal: to determine the territorial characteristics playing a key role for the new technology diffusion; to define the factors acting as propelling and innovating forces in the functional organisation of territory; to estimate the state of the Italian Southern provinces as regards their propension to new technology diffusion.
