European environmental policies and fauna, diversity and perspectives: a review

The United Nations define biodiversity as the "variability among living organisms from all sources, including terrestrial, marine, and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part". The EU is committed to halting biodiversity loss in Europe and significantly reducung the rate of loss worldwide. The goal of the European Union: Halting the loss of biodiversity on its own teritory by 2010 is the target indicated by EU. The Natura 2000 network - is the centerpiece of EU nature and biodiversity policy.
