The awareness of the value of the architectural heritage of the historical centre of Naples should invite us to pay attention to the areas, which are close to zones where are planned redevelopment interventions , in order to trigger a process of economic revitalization, social and cultural development of the city. Among these areas it should be considered the Central Railway Station of Naples with the great basin of Piazza Garibaldi and the surrounding zones, currently characterized by a strong environmental and social decay. The aim is to give rise to the redevelopment of the urban context that surrounds the railway station by means of the recovery of the built environment, through insertion of activities compatible with the context and able to qualify places. n this context the knowledge of the urban qualities plays pays a key role: for this reason it has been started a study on the urban area adjacent Piazza Garibaldi that defines the axis of Via Firenze, up to Piazza Umberto I, in spatial continuity with the great square on which raises the central station. The edification of the area under study was carried out at the end of ???800 by Ing. Ricciardi. This intervention has characteristics of interest in the regularity of the urban buildings, characterized by a regular structure, punctuated by the presence of recurrent elements derived from classical architecture, with a repertoire of decorative forms, which represents an element of identity.
