Every urban survey must include the study of all architectures, starting from paradigmatic examples up to basic construction in order to read urban landscape as the result of individual actions different for language, typology, materials, motivations and functions. Emblematic case in this regard is the vesuvian area that could be defined a macro regional system characterized by the presence of the volcano and structured upon a ring of urban settlements grown indiscriminately starting from the connective road that forms the whole system. In this context, Pompeii is a special case, not only for its location near the coast and Vesuvius, but especially for the presence of two poles of worldwide attraction as the sanctuary and the archaeological site that characterize the context. But besides these aspects that monopolize the specificity of place polarizing attention and incentives, there is an urban city of Pompeii, requesting to be enhanced through the improvement of its connotations. Thus has been conducted a study on the city and on its architectures in order to establish trough the analysis models of territorial enhancing. Although planimetrically context appears logically structured, settlements that have taken place over time, return the perception of fragmented image of anonymous architectures, characterized by interventions which have altered the identity of places through additions and modifications. The analysis led to the identification of building selected sample, classifying individual units, primarily based on technology and structure, distinguishing characters in relation to the elements, in order to detect the specific characterization of urban spaces and single architectures.
