Criticism is neither good nor bad: it is useful. The main objective of any science is to discuss its fundamental paradigms. Paraphrasing a famous aphorism of Voltaire – “Judge a book (man) by his questions rather than by his answers” – I can conclude that this book is not distinctively useful, it is axiomatically useful to the whole volcanological community.
