A 2 x 25 kV-50 Hz traction power system was analyzed. The system was modelled in the time domain and the analyses were performed in short circuit conditions. The model, which is particularly useful for evaluating the effects of the critical operating condition also on telecom circuits, power supply equipment and signalling track circuits, was validated using the results of a measurement campaign. Due to the difficulty in assessing the track line parameters which mainly depend on changing environmental conditions, the possibility of neglecting the capacitive parameters was also analyzed. The simulations demonstrated that neglecting the capacitive connections between conductors doesn’t affect the accuracy of the results in the power circuit.

Abstract
