We analyse a three-field method for the approximate solution of structural problems based on a suitable variant of the Hu-Washizu functional in which the lack of kinematic compatibility, called the strain gap, is assumed as an independent variable. A full discussion of well posedness, convergence properties and limitation principles is provided. A comparison with previous treatments is performed and computational issues are discussed.

Abstract
We analyse a three-field method for the approximate solution of structural problems based on a suitable variant of the Hu-Washizu functional in which the lack of kinematic compatibility, called the strain gap, is assumed as an independent variable. A full discussion of well posedness, convergence properties and limitation principles is provided. A comparison with previous treatments is performed and computational issues are discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
