Effects of Fenclor 64 on the structural and functional aspects of the reproductive organs and on fetus and offsprings of the treated female wistar albino rats were studied. Two groups of female (n. 30) were treated with Fenclor; one for a period of 12 days before mating and the other both before mating and 18 days during pregnancy. Onother group of 30 females treated with olive oil formed the placebo control. In animals treated with Fenclor prior to mating the estrus cycle was formed prolonged. In animals treated both before and during pregnancy a high level of uterine estradiol receptors was registred. They also displayed a generally diffused abnormalities in liver and kidneys. Fetuses of the treated femalse showed significant reduction of thoracic vertebrae and nuclear ossification bodies but no congenital or teratogenic effects were encountered. Fenclor thought failed to effect the number of neonates born to the treated females; these neonates exbhited a reduced birth weight. These neonates also displayed delayed endochondrial growth and abnormalities of the cartilagineous structure. Thus the transplacental effects of Fenclor are not of teratogenic nature but it negatively influence almost all the investigated paramenters.
